Grand hotels
The Esplanade, built in 1925 for passengers of the Orient Express, is the city’s grandest hotel, with Art Deco interiors and a famous terrace. The Palace, on the Green Horseshoe, is Zagreb’s oldest hotel, in a Secession palace.
Dining
Zagreb has two MICHELIN-starred restaurants in the 2026 guide: Noel, with its creative tasting menus, and Dubravkin Put, in the woods of Tuškanac. Zinfandel’s at the Esplanade is the city’s classic grand dining room.
Wine and cocktails
Taste Croatia’s best wines in the vaulted cellar of Bornstein, and dress up for cocktails at the Esplanade or on the rooftop of the Met hotel.
Wellness and shopping
Spend a day in the thermal pools of Zagorje, then shop for silk ties at Croata and rare fragrances at the city’s niche perfumeries.
Our advice: book Noel or Dubravkin Put well ahead, stay at the Esplanade for the full experience, and keep an afternoon for a winery in Plešivica or a spa in Zagorje.
