Cathedral of Saint Domnius
An emperor’s tomb

About Cathedral of Saint Domnius
The Cathedral of Saint Domnius was built inside the octagonal mausoleum of Diocletian, the emperor who persecuted Christians, and dedicated to one of his victims, the bishop Domnius. Inside, the dome and carvings are Roman; the carved wooden doors and choir stalls are medieval. Climb the Romanesque bell tower for a magnificent view of the town and the sea.
