About Diocletian's Palace

Diocletian built his palace on the sea around AD 300, and when people took refuge inside its walls in the 7th century it became a city. Today its walls, gates, courtyards and temples are woven into the streets of the old town, full of homes, shops and cafés. Walk through all four gates and explore its lanes early in the morning or in the evening.
