About Fort Lovrijenac
Fort Lovrijenac stands on a rock 37 metres above the sea outside the western walls, guarding the approach to the city. Above its gate an inscription reads, in Latin, that freedom is not to be sold for all the gold in the world. Its terraces have wonderful views of the walls, and in summer it becomes a stage for the Dubrovnik Summer Festival.
