The seat of the republic

About Rector’s Palace

The Rector’s Palace was the seat of government of the Republic of Ragusa. The Rector, elected for just one month at a time, lived and worked here and could not leave without permission. Its arcaded loggia and courtyard mix Gothic and Renaissance styles, and inside is the Cultural History Museum, with rooms and portraits from the days of the republic.
