About The funicular: 66 metres of history
The little blue funicular that climbs from Tomićeva street to the Upper Town is one of Zagreb’s best-loved symbols: its track is only 66 metres long, making it one of the shortest public funiculars in the world.
Since 1890
The funicular opened in 1890 to link the Lower Town with the Upper Town, and it has been running ever since, now with electric power. The ride takes about a minute.
One of the shortest
With a track of just 66 metres, it is one of the shortest public funiculars in the world. At the top, Lotrščak Tower and Strossmayer Promenade offer views over the Lower Town.
The ride lasts about a minute, and it has done so since 1890.
Our advice: ride up and walk down via the Stone Gate and Radićeva. Tickets are inexpensive; check ZET for current fares.
