St Mark’s Church
The tiled roof

About St Mark’s Church
St Mark’s stands on the square at the heart of the Upper Town, between the Croatian Parliament and the government palace. Its roof, laid in the 19th century, shows two coats of arms in coloured glazed tiles: the arms of Zagreb and those of the Kingdom of Croatia, Slavonia and Dalmatia. Look too at the Gothic south portal, with its carved figures of saints.
Why it's on our list
- The most photographed roof in Zagreb
