About Stone Gate
The Stone Gate is the only one of the old gates of Gradec to survive. In 1731 a fire destroyed the wooden houses around it, but a painting of the Virgin Mary inside was found unharmed, and the gate became a shrine. Today people stop to light candles and pray, and the walls are covered with plaques of thanks.
