About The Peristyle
The Peristyle was the ceremonial court of the palace, lined with granite columns, where the emperor appeared before his subjects. One of the sphinxes he brought from Egypt still sits here. Today it is the heart of the old town, with café steps to sit on and concerts on summer evenings.
